As part of the 1FUTURE project’s WP4 curriculum developments, Professor Meri Cvetkovska from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, North Macedonia, delivered a two-day teaching session at the University of Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During her lecture on Circular Economy in Civil Engineering, Professor Cvetkovska emphasized the need for a shift from traditional linear economic models to circular economy practices, advocating for a more resource-efficient and waste-reducing approach within the construction industry. She discussed best practices for minimizing construction waste and optimizing material reuse, presenting examples of how these strategies contribute to sustainable infrastructure development. Additionally, she highlighted the role of the European Circular Economy Action Plan, explaining how it serves as a driving force for sustainability and climate resilience in the built environment.
On the second day, Professor Cvetkovska led an interactive session on Energy Efficiency and Passive House Design, where she explored the environmental impact of conventional building practices and the need for sustainable alternatives
Through these sessions, students gained practical knowledge on circular economy models, insights into energy-efficient technologies, and a clear roadmap for implementing sustainable engineering solutions in real-world projects.
