On November 6-7, 2024, Prof. Dr. Mirjana Laban from the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technical Sciences, delivered two teaching sessions at the University of Tuzla, Faculty of Mining, Geology, and Civil Engineering as part of the 1FUTURE project.
The lectures covered “Hazard Mapping and Risk Assessment” on the first day, where Prof. Laban provided students with an in-depth understanding of fire hazard distribution, vulnerability mapping, and risk assessment methodologies. The interactive session included case studies and discussions on fire safety challenges in residential buildings, emphasizing the need for improved preventive measures and spatial-temporal risk analysis.
On the second day, the focus was on “Energy Efficiency and Fire Safety in Buildings”, highlighting the EU’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050, sustainable construction practices, and strategies to enhance building resilience against fire hazards. The session explored key aspects of energy renovation, fire risk mitigation, and the impact of regulations on building safety.
The interactive format, combining theoretical knowledge with case studies, provided attendees with practical tools and knowledge to address risk assessment and fire safety challenges.
