The 1FUTURE project aims to to improve regional capacities in implementing Green Deal goals within higher education system. The 1Future project builds up on the needs and the ambition to lead climate action in HEIs in the WB Region. Within the project, HEIs of the region will serve as the gear that connects different stakeholders for building climate resilient communities.

Erasmus + Program

The Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) action supports international cooperation projects based on multilateral partnerships between organisations active in the field of higher education. It will support a successful green and sustainable global economic recovery in the third countries not associated to the Erasmus+ programme, linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement.

Leading Partner

The University of Tirana is the largest university in the country. It consists of six faculties and two institutes and offers 174 programs in all three cycles of study, with 779 full-time academic staff and approximately 28,550 students. Thanks to its tradition, high level of qualification, training and certification, the University of Tirana remains the most sought after university in Albania.

International Symposium

Bridging Research Between Business and Academia for a Greener Tomorrow

Climate change and sustainability have become urgent global priorities, demanding collective action across sectors. Human activities—from emissions to deforestation—have triggered environmental disruptions that threaten ecosystems, deepen social inequalities, and hinder progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In response, the University of Montenegro, the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tirana, and the University of Novi Sad, within the 1Future project, invite you to join the International Symposium.

This event aims to enhance interdisciplinary dialogue and promote innovative research addressing the critical challenges of climate change and sustainable development. Scholars, policymakers, and practitioners are encouraged to contribute and explore the intersections of business, research, and sustainability.

We welcome submissions addressing, but not limited to:

  • Sustainable economic and business models
  • Environmental justice and equity in public policies
  • The role of technology and innovation in sustainability
  • Engineering, Energy and Resource Management
  • Sustainable urban and rural development
  • Education and Communication

Important Dates

  • Deadline for abstract submission: 20 June 2025
  • Notification of acceptance: 31 July 2025
  • Deadline for full paper submission: 15 September 2025

Attendance at the symposium is completely free of charge. Should you wish to attend the event in person (on-site), please note the following participation costs:

  • Coffee breaks: €7 per break
  • Lunch: €30
