As part of the ongoing collaboration within the 1FUTURE Project, the University of Tirana hosted two visiting professors from the University of Novi Sad, Serbia, for a two-day teaching visit held on May 28–29, 2025.
The visit aimed to strengthen academic exchange and knowledge-sharing on key topics related to risk management, hazard preparedness, and social resilience, contributing to the project’s mission of building educational and research capacities across the Western Balkans.
On May 28, Dr. Suzana Draganić, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, delivered a lecture on “Hazard Mapping and Risk Assessment.” The session, held at the Faculty of Economics, introduced students and faculty to tools and methodologies used in identifying and evaluating risks, complemented by real-world case studies and interactive discussion.
The following day, May 29, Dr. Ljiljana Popović, Associate Professor at the same faculty, led a session on “Social Resilience to Hazards.” The lecture focused on the societal dimensions of disaster preparedness and response, highlighting the importance of community-based strategies and interdisciplinary approaches to resilience.
Both sessions employed an interactive teaching format, encouraging the active participation of students and academic staff.
This teaching visit marks a successful milestone in the project’s efforts to foster cross-border academic collaboration and develop a shared understanding of sustainability and risk-related challenges facing the region.
