As part of Work Package 4 of the 1FUTURE project, Luarasi University organized a thought-provoking lecture session on Social Resilience to Hazards on May 28, 2025. The session was delivered by Associate Professor PhD. Liljana Popović, a specialist in disaster risk management and community resilience.
Held at Luarasi University, the session brought together 25 university students for an engaging exploration of how societies can prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural and human-induced hazards. Key themes included risk perception, community-based strategies, policy frameworks, and the role of social systems in enhancing resilience.
Prof. Popović guided students through a series of real-life examples and interactive discussions, encouraging them to reflect critically on vulnerability, adaptation, and sustainability in different socio-environmental contexts.
The one-hour session provided a strong foundation in understanding resilience as a multidimensional concept, equipping students with analytical tools and strategic insights essential for addressing future risks in an increasingly complex world.
