On March 20, 2025 at the premises of the Faculty of Economics, University of Tirana, a workshop was organized with a very important focus for the education system and the business world: Cooperation between Business and Academia for a Sustainable Future. The event was organized by Fakulteti i Ekonomisë , Universiteti i Tiranës, Universiteti Politeknik i Tiranës, Dhoma e Tregtise dhe Industrise, Tirane, INCA ALBANIA, Kolegji Universitar Luarasi, National Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation.
This activity brought together key actors from academia, the business sector, public institutions and civil society organizations, stimulating discussions on innovation, sustainability and the role of cooperation between academia and business to address climate challenges and a sustainable economy.
The workshop focus was on presenting the 1FUTURE platform, a collaborative virtual platform, as a space where industry and academia can exchange knowledge, share research and co-create sustainable solutions. The platform was developed by the project team established at the Faculty of Economics, University of Tirana. The live demonstration of the platform attracted the attention of the participants, who expressed their willingness to explore its potential in fostering beneficial partnerships.
The discussion session that followed was interactive, with business representatives and academics sharing their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities of cooperation.
Company representatives expressed an interest in using the 1FUTURE platform to access academic research, connect with new talents, and develop sustainable business strategies. During these discussions, several concrete ideas for collaboration were identified, including joint research projects, internship opportunities for students, and specialized training programs to strengthen sustainability practices in companies.
At the end of the workshop, participants underlined the need for continued dialogue and broader collaboration. Both businesses and academics committed to actively using the 1FUTURE platform as a bridge for effective partnerships. The importance of continuous knowledge exchange, research-industrial partnerships, and joint advocacy for more effective policies in the field of sustainable development was emphasized by all attendees.
