From 14–17 October 2025, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Montenegro successfully finished the Short Intensive Course “Smart Green Resilient Cities: A Holistic Approach to Sustainable Urbanization”, organised within the Erasmus+ project 1FUTURE in cooperation with the Knowledge HUB for Climate and Sustainability (KHCS).
The course provided an interdisciplinary learning space focused on practical and policy-relevant approaches to sustainable urban development. It addressed major challenges faced by cities today, resource efficiency, climate resilience, and regulatory alignment, by combining technical knowledge with circular economy principles and European standards.
Participants explored core themes including construction and demolition waste management and circular economy, circular economy solutions in the built environment, and the application of the EU Construction Products Regulation in supporting sustainable and resilient urbanization. These topics were further enriched through symposium sessions, open discussions, and peer exchange, enabling participants to reflect on how innovative practices and regulatory frameworks can be translated into local and regional contexts.
The training was delivered in Montenegrin and English. Upon successful completion, participants received a Certificate of Attendance, recognising their engagement and learning outcomes.
This Short Intensive Course contributed to strengthening capacities for greener and more resilient cities, underlining the commitment of the University of Montenegro and the 1FUTURE project partners to advancing sustainable urbanization through education, innovation, and collaboration.
