The Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, through its Knowledge Hubs for Climate and Sustainability (KHCS) unit, successfully concluded a Tailor-Made Short Intensive Course (TMSIC) entitled “Sustainable Development, Circular Economy, and Risk Resilience in the Built Environment.”, from 17 to 20 November 2025.
Organized as a key activity under the 1FUTURE Erasmus+ Project, this TMSIC served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange between academia and professionals from business and public sector. It fostered in-depth discussions on real-world challenges and explored practical, forward-looking solutions for creating a more sustainable future.
The programme of the course was delivered by a distinguished group of experts from the NGOs, Institute for Nature Conservation in Albania (INCA) and the Environmental and Territorial Management Institute (ETMI), the invited professor from IUAV University (Italy), and the professors from the Department of Environmental Engineering.
The course was focused on the following topics: Foundations of Sustainability and Circular Economy, Energy Efficiency and Building Design, Safety and Resilience in Construction, Urban Planning, Integrated Risk Framework, Social Resilience and Disaster Risk, Climate Change & Sectoral Impacts, and on-site study visits. The participants were mainly students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, business representatives and professionals from different sectors of public institutions.
This intensive course underscored a shared commitment to advancing sustainability education and capacity building.
