On Thursday, March 7, 2024, at University College „CEPS – Center for Business Studies“ Kiseljak, the Knowledge Hub for Climate and Sustainability (KHCS) was opened, which was one of the key goals of the 1FUTURE project. This center was opened with a mission to foster a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers, faculty, students, and stakeholders from the local community to collectively address the complex challenges of sustainability and climate change through research, educational, and incentive initiatives.
At the opening, the head of the Traffic Engineering study program, Dr.sc. Nermin Palić, gave a presentation to acquaint attendees with the purpose, mission, vision, and objectives of the center. He also introduced valuable equipment that will be available to all interested parties, including students, professors, workshop and seminar participants, and others. The equipment will also be used within certain educational programs and workshops planned as part of the project.
In addition to CEPS professors, the event was attended by the President of the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Mirsad Jašarspahić, Dipl. Eng. Mech. During this event, President Jašarspahić and Professor Palić, on behalf of the CEPS director, signed an Agreement on Scientific, Research, and Professional Cooperation. It is important to note that CEPS and the Chamber of Commerce of FBiH are partners in the 1FUTURE project.
University College CEPS, together with 21 partners from EU countries and the Western Balkans, aims through this project to enhance regional capacities in implementing the goals of the Green Deal within the higher education system through a holistic approach to climate and sustainable activities, encouraging action towards the environment, climate change, sustainability, and resilience.
In addition to the opening of the center, the project aims to enhance study programs by introducing new subjects or modifying existing ones by adding themes of sustainability and their impact on climate change.
The doors of KHCS are open to all interested students, professors, external collaborators, alumni, as well as stakeholders from the local and wider community.
